Jenny Beth Snyder

Jenny Beth Snyder is a Tennessee born, New York based theater director and co-founder of theater company Fresh Ground Pepper NYC. Her collaboration with True False Theater on Daria Tavana’s adaptation of Slaughterhouse Five played to sold out houses in the 2013 Fringe Festival and went on to the Encore Series. She collaborated with new playwright Jessica Hernandez on her innovative new play regarding faith, commercialism and adulthood titled Man and Coconut in a residency with IRT. She braved the polar vortex in the outdoor, immersive cab show Take Me Home as assistant to Director Meghan Finn in the Incubator’s Arts Other Forces festival. Through the vortex she bonded with actress Tess Howsam, artistic director of Exquisite Corpse Company. This began a collaboration with Matthew Minnincino on Anon, a piece in ECC’s WareArt:Subterra Festival at Here Arts Center.

Other past directing credits include working with long time friend Morgan McGuire on her Triptych (with The Shelter Theater Company), developing new works through FGP (America, in Camera! by Callan Stout), and premiering long lost work Ideal by Ayn Rand at 59 E 59th’s America’s Off Broadway Festival.

Jenny Beth holds a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the arts. She is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Director’s Lab in 2013. She is currently working on a piece with Amy Buchannon that will premiere at FGP’s Playground Playgroup showings in December of 2014.
